A very articulate and very very patient young Zoe. She was able to assist me in understanding not only the three principles of, Aperture, Exposure, and Speed and I.S.O but also how I was able to apply those aspects to the controls on my camera. I moved over from 35m to Digital some years ago and struggled, until Sunday, to understand my lovely camera, let alone struggle through the manual. It was a chilly day, and at Zoe's suggestion , we were sbout to take an exercise in star effect useing the sun : with that the sun disappears behind the biggest darkest cloud of the day, and stayed there. Never mind, it gave us a laugh . Thanks again, good luck to Zoe on her ventures, and thankyou for sending those brautiful pictures down the line. Tom McIver.

I edited it a little in Snapseed just to tweak it to how my eyes saw it on that day. I love to use my iPhone because it is always with me! Watchet Harbour is a special place. It has much history:Under Alfred the Great (AD871-901), Watchet became an important Saxon port and a site of a ?Royal Mint?, coins of which have been found as far distant as Copenhagen and Stockho

I heard that the Birnbeck Pier restoration was underway, so I stopped off on route to Dorset from the Midlands to take a look. I have many childhood memories of holidays in Weston in the 60s. I wanted to shoot the lunar eclipse but at the same time incorporate some quintessential Fort Worth icons into the image for context. I knew I would need to use a very long telephoto to get a large moon but in doing so knew that the rest of the image would need to be some distance from me due to the tunnel vision of the telephoto. I used Photopills and The Photographer?s Ephemeris to plan the shot which was taken with Fuji X system mirrorless equipment.

Rekindling a love of black and white photography, I took this photograph whilst on a Brighton Photography Group 'Urban Architecture in Black & White Photography' study event led by Tobias Slater-Hunt.
